WOG is super proud to announce the immediate availability of McCauley Family Farm pasture-raised chickens. This beloved local farm was sold in January of this year. In closing out his freezer space, Marcus McCauley recently identified a half pallet of chickens that still need to find their way onto a plate.
Ben and Red immediately scheduled a look-see at the freezer location and Ben went home with a bird. These are large chickens unlike the pale squishy things you buy at the store.
Mary threw it in the oven frozen and cooked it for several hours, filling the house with the most amazing smell. The layer of beautiful, yellow fat in the skin rendered into the pan, making for a delicious chicken soup the next day. The meat was rich and flavorful, with a great texture and taste.
These birds were selling for $8/lb last winter and the coop is happy to price them below that. However, your actual price per pound will vary as we are selling from the shopping cart as follows:
- 3.6 to 4.0 pounds for $28.00
- 4.1 to 4.5 pounds for $32.00
- 4.6 to 5.0 pounds for $36.00
- 5+ pounds for $40.00
Limit: Two per week per customer.
